Event Guidance

Organising an event can be a stressful experience, particularly if you're doing it for the first time. John is more than happy to offer advice and is only a phone call or e-mail away. Some points worth considering are:

Is one magician enough?

For groups of up to and around 100, one magician should be sufficient, with approximately 10 tables to entertain. For larger groups, John is able to provide additional performers - all of the highest calibre - to ensure that all of your guests experience the magic and no one feels that they have missed something.

Table layout

Round tables are always preferred to oblong as everybody gets to see the performance as John moves around the table. Oblong tables invariably mean that one end of the table can't see or hear what is going on at the other end.

Music

The success of close up magic depends on guests being able to hear what is being said, so background music should be kept at a level which allows this. There will be plenty of opportunity for the DJ or band to wind up the volume when the meal and magic are over.

Anything else happening?

If there are other planned events for the evening such as speeches or presentations, please let John know the running order beforehand. This will ensure that nobody's table gets missed because time has run out, and will help in John's preparation for his after dinner show if this has been booked.

Need to meet beforehand?

No problem! If you need to discuss the event face to face then this can be arranged. Not only will you have the opportunity to discuss the finer details of the event, but it will also give you the opportunity to meet the unknown stranger who will be entertaining at it.
